SYNOPSIS
This week’s edition of INSIDE NASARAWA STATE tracks His Excellency Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule as he responds with speed and decisive dexterity to inaugurate a 4 Man Invesgave Committee to unravel the remote causes of the February 10Th Industrial action embarked upon by the joint academic staff union of College of Education Akwanga in a follow-up strike action by the students of the institution. On our page of INSIDE NASARAWA STATE, there is whirlpool of activities like how India has indicated a strong intention to build a World class Teaching hospital in Nasarawa State, just as the Kuwai Ambassador is saying Nasarawa State can benefit from Kuwai Development Funds. And then Governor Sule makes it a point to put Lafia Technology Incubation Hub back on track as he made an impactful appearance at the Combined 2nd and 3rd Convocation Ceremony of Federal University Lafia (FULAFIA).
ANALYSIS:
On Friday, 6 September 2019, His Excellency, ENGR. ABDULLAHI A. SULE held a STAKEHOLDERS MEETING to commemorate “THE CELEBRATION OF 100 DAYS IN OFFICE” where he stated that; “we owe you duty as a responsive administration that has imbibed the principles of accountability, transparency, due process, and prudent management of public resources, to give a report of our
journey!”
Within 10 months, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule has provided potable water in Keffi and other places where the taps had run dry for years. He has also evolved a knowledge-based economy in Nasarawa State which is today anchored on ICT and the upsurge of skills acquisition and technology incubation hubs. In 10 months of being on the saddle, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule has with good reason built valuable synergy with the Federal Government through the National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP), which seeks to address the incessant farmers-herders conflict and he has ensured that Nasarawa State has keyed into the Federal Government initiative of Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) by developing the Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy (NEDS), and he also inaugurated (NEBEC) Nasarawa Ease of Doing Business Council, which is an offshoot of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC). Indeed as Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule clocks 10 months in office, Nasarawa State has been identified as one of the six states selected by the African Development Bank (AfDB), for the establishment of SPECIAL AGRO INDUSTRIAL PROCESSING ZONES (SAPZs). African Development Bank has earmarked $500m loan and identified 14 sites across Nigeria where agro-processing activities will be concentrated in order to increase productivity and provide millions of youth and rural men and women with employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in agri-business. Nasarawa State was selected in the North Central Region because of the proactive investor-friendly style and robust agricultural initiatives of His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule. Recall that it is in the second month of his stewardship that Governor Abdullahi A. Sule restored the 100% payment of pension to retirees in the state civil service and streamlined Ministries from 18 to 13, in order to reform the Public Service and place it on the right pedestal for enhanced efficiency and productivity, and as he was about to present the 2020 Budget for Nasarawa State, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule decided to allocate an unprecedented and whooping 26% of the entire budget to the Education sector alone!
