SYNOPSIS
In Week 7 of NASARAWA SPOTLIGHT, the Embassy of Hungary received NEDS:
NASARAWA DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY document evolved by Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule in Abuja; and on the basis of which the Engineer Sule administration has continued to initiate policies and programmes geared towards the creation of a conducive business environment for business to strive, poverty reduction, as well as job creation in Nasarawa State. On this same edition of NASARAWA SPOTLIGHT, Engineer Sule led a high powered delegation to condole the people of Plateau State where the Governor stated in Jos that; ‘his visit was aimed at renewing ancestral es of friendship, unity, and brotherliness, as Plateau State goes through this difficult period!’ Governor Sule further enjoined the people of Plateau State not to be discouraged by the recent tragic incidents, but to continue to have faith in God and never to allow those who instigate crises to distract them from building an inclusive and secure plateau state. It was a week of economic diplomacy and peace-building.
ANALYSIS:
On 26th November 2019, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule held a meeting with state councilors where he stated: “I want to be a governor that is thinking and doing, I want to bring investment, I want to bring opportunities, and I want to bring people who will come to Nasarawa State and catapult employment opportunities and provide revenue for our state. It was in order to bring wealth, employment, and economic prosperity that Governor Abdullahi A. Sule conceived the futuristic document called NEDS: (Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy). The purpose of NEDS was to unlock all constraints which may have hindered the inflow of investments into Nasarawa State in the past.
After receiving NEDS, Engineer Sule sought 15 through-bred global economic players
and conscripted them into a think tank called Nasarawa State Economic and Investment Advisory Council, which he tasked with the singular mission to bring to bear their wealth of experience in order to ginger the implementation of Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy (NEDS) and unlock all constraints which may have hindered the inflow of investments into Nasarawa State in the past. History books have it that Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule is the FIRST GOVERNOR in Nasarawa State to constitute the Investment and Economic Advisory Council, and as a four-year standing committee, their mission was: “To promote economic empowerment and the general wellbeing of people of Nasarawa State and guide the A.A. Sule Administration to initiate policies that are economically viable, so as to ensure the implementation of NEDS: Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy!”
KEY:
Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule is gradually unleashing unbridled creativity and bold innovations into governance in Nasarawa State. This is in tandem with the truism that: “A great leader is a teacher and a coach, not a dictator!”
