His Excellency, Engr Abdullahi A. Sule has flag-off free medical outreach which is tagged “A.A SULE FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH.” The event took place at General Hospital Akwanga on the 25th August, 2022.
The outreach which is sponsored by Hon. Yakubu Kwanta, the honourable Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources is aimed at ensuring that the effort of the administration of Engr A.A. Sule to deliver healthcare services to the people of Nasarawa State is sustained.
It will be recalled that to commemorate 100 Days in office of Engr Abdullahi A. Sule administration in September 2019, the governor embarked on a statewide medical outreach for the treatment of Glaucoma and Cataract surgery. In this regard, five thousand two hundred and nine (5,209) people benefited from the State-wide Medical Outreach ranging from surgery, issuance of glasses and medicament. 3,000 beneficiaries were given eye glasses, while over 2,000 received assorted medical eye drugs. This medical outreach was repeated for a second time during the one-year anniversary of the A.A. Sule administration on May 29, 2020.
Engr Abdullahi A. Sule as attested to by Hon. Haruna Kigbu, also used to sponsor Medical Outreaches in Nasarawa State, Ebonyi & other parts of Nigeria, which were undertaken by Doctors Without Borders as way as back 2005-2006, when Engr A.A. Sule was working with Dangote Group
It is because of the natural compassion which Engr A.A. Sule has to ensure easy access to healthcare for the poor that he launched the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Scheme in Lafia on Thursday 12th December 2019, and he mandated the immediate release of take- off funds to enable the agency commence enrollment of beneficiaries.
This proactive step made Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency to become the very first agency in Nigeria to access funds from the bonus accruable to states from THE SAVING ONE MILLION LIVES PROGRAMME OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT in order to achieve universal health coverage for ALL citizens by taking away out of pocket expenses for health care and consequent financial hardship.
