It is my pleasure to address you today on this occasion of the Flagoff Ceremony for the Construcon of Rural Feeder Roads across the three Senatorial Zones of the State, taking place here in Agwade, Obi Local Government Area of the State.
It would be recalled that during my inaugural address, I made a pledge to construct some Rural Feeder (Trunk C) Roads in each of the three Senatorial Districts in the State within the first 100 days of our Administraon. This is part of our commitment to open our rural communies for enhanced socio-economic activities.
In fulfillment of this commitment, we are today gathered to kick-start the construction of Agwade-Shupe-Atabula-Obi road. Other road projects earmarked for construcon under this category includes: Shabu-Doka-Arugba-Lakio, KanjeAbuni and Kagbu A-Atsoko-Kagbu Wana roads. Disnguished ladies and gentlemen, this Administraon
considers rural development as cardinal towards the provision of infrastructural facilies for all round development of the State. Other components in our rural development package include the provision of water supply and rural electricity. The construcon of Rural Feeder Roads in the State is aimed at upgrading the road networks and open our rural communies for enhanced trade, ease the movement of people and agricultural produce for economic development.
There is, no doubt, that this endeavour is also designed to link our urban and rural centres with the sole objecve of improving our road networks in the State. At this juncture, let me state that this project will be carried out through Direct Labour at a total cost of Three Hundred and Thirty-seven Million, Six Hundred and Twenty-two
Thousand, Three Hundred and Twenty-five Naira (N337,622,325.00) only. Our resort to direct labour concept in project execuon is to reduce cost and enhance the
capacity of the Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development. As you are aware, we have experienced and competent Civil Engineers and allied workers that are
professionally disposed to execung this project to the desired quality and expectaon. I, therefore, call on our professionals to see the construcon of these roads as a litmus test. You must jusfy the confidence Government reposed in you.
Perhaps, I need to use the opportunity of this occasion to assure the good people of Nasarawa State of the commitment of this Administraon to commit itself to the
provision of infrastructures in all the sectors of the State economy for the development of all the crannies of the State. We are resolved to take Nasarawa State to the Next
Level of development not minding the constraints of resources.
Let me, therefore, appeal to the good people of Nasarawa State to connue to maintain the peace to serve as encouragement to the Government in the discharge of its
onerous responsibilies. There is no gainsaying that social harmony and societal cohesion remains the only spring board for progress and development. On this note, it is my pleasure to Flag-off the symbolic construcon of Rural Feeder Roads across the three Senatorial Zones of the State.
