When I took over the mantle of leadership of our dear State, I made a solemn commitment to revitalize and refocus the public service with the view to make it vibrant, stable, and responsive to the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Nasarawa State. Concomitant to this is my resolve to package a team of tested technocrats, resourceful bureaucrats, and experts that will bring their experience to bear on the actualization of the policies and programmes of our
Administration.
Today’s occasion is, therefore, in partial fulfillment of our collective desire to launch Nasarawa State on the path of growth and development. It is, therefore, with gratitude to Almighty God and a sense of fulfillment that we are gathered here today for the swearing-in of some public officers into critical offices with
enormous responsibilities as follows:
I. The Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State; and
ii. Special Advisers.
I acknowledge with appreciation the presence of distinguished personalities, relations, friends and wellwishers who have turned out in numbers to show support to this Administration and solidarity with the appointees on their well deserved political attainment.
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, it is pertinent to state that being the first major appointments into public offices since our assumption of office, we were meticulous and diligent on the choice of the appointees. We consulted widely and considered their pedigrees aimed at setting the pace for moving Nasarawa State to the Next Level of
Development.
As you are aware, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State is the nucleus of Government activities, requiring the occupant of the office to be a person with outstanding record of performance, commitment, dedication, hard work, loyalty, proven integrity, and exemplary antecedents. Let me state that for all intent and purposes, these were the considerations that informed our choice of the new Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State. I have no doubt that the new appointee will continue to be an embodiment of sacrifice and service to the people of Nasarawa State.
Similarly, I need to reiterate that the implementation of Government policies and programmes will require informed advice, suggestions, and guidance. Accordingly, I
believe that the appointment of Special Advisers will avail Government the privilege of their valuable advice which will be an added impetus toward improving the standard
of living of our people. I have no doubt that this Administration will count on the experiences and doggedness of the new Special Advisers towards the needed reinvigoration of the public service for enhanced productivity and efficiency.
Your Excellencies, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, it is imperative to emphasize that, the success of any Government is dependent on the quality of the team it
assembles. It is in this regard that we selected the of this deliberate effort is to strengthen the machinery of Government for effective performance.
Let me, therefore, congratulate our new Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State and the four (4) Special Advisers on your well-deserved appointments. As you assume duty, I charge you to quickly sele down to your new assignments. I charge you to be innovative and make valuable contributions to enable the Government to achieve its development objectives.
My dear good people of Nasarawa State, I should remind us all that governance is a collective responsibility. I, therefore, call on you to give the new appointees your maximum support and cooperation. I urge you to appreciate the enormous tasks entrusted on their shoulders, hence the need for you to encourage them to give their best. Let me also appeal to members of the public not to put unnecessary pressures capable of distracting our public officers from discharging their onerous
responsibilities of taking Nasarawa State to the Next Level of Development. Ladies and gentlemen, with the swearing-in of the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State and some Special Advisers today, the necessary foundation is now put in place for the commencement of the implementation of the policies and programmes of this Administration in the State. I assure you that in the subsequent weeks and months to come, more appointments will be made in order to achieve our development objectives and to give people sense of belonging. Accordingly, I solicit for the maximum support and cooperation of all and sundry in this noble quest to beer the lives of our people.
On this note, I once again congratulate the new Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State and Special Advisers. I welcome you on board in the service of Nasarawa State.
