A GLIMPSE INTO THE LIFE OF
Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule was born on December, 26th, 1959 in Gudi Station of Nasarawa State where he attended the Roman Catholic Mission Primary School.
His first encounter with Economics was as a student of Zang Secondary Commercial School in Jos Plateau State.
Abdullahi Sule later in life proceeded to Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana, USA where he graduated with B.Sc. Mechanical Technology and M.Sc. Industrial Technology in 1984.
Abdullahi A. Sule is a versatile, multileveled and multivocal individual; a prince of the Abdullahi Angulu lineage of Gudi who is blessed with remarkable portable skills, political substance, intellectual resonance and has over 35 years’ proven experience in the Oil & Gas, Steel Production, and Sugar Industries in the United States of America and Nigeria.
Today Engr A.A. Sule has fast earned for himself a reputation NOT ONLY as a Politician Extraordinaire, A Corporate Mogul of cognate repute and An Engineer of High Standing but also the inspiration and activator of a new Economic model or school of thought called BARAYANOMICS.
Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule returned to Nigeria in year 2000, and joined in setting up an indigenous oil and gas company, Sadiq Petroleum Nigeria Limited; where he served as the pioneer Managing Director from February to November, 2000.
The company acquired majority shareholding in one of Nigeria’s major petroleum products marketing companies, African Petroleum Plc., where he was promoted to the position of Managing Director of African Petroleum Plc., in 2001, a position he held till July 2006, when he resigned from African Petroleum, AP.
Engr. Sule was appointed the MD/CEO of Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc. in November 2007, and confirmed as Group Managing Director of Dangote Sugar in June 2018.
Engineer Sule has served on various boards including the IMB International Bank and Star-AP Oilfield Services and he was at one time the Chairman of Nasarawa Investment and Property Development Company and at another time, Engr A.A. Sule was Chairman of the Nigeria Sugar Industry Monitoring Group (SIMOG).
One year after his confirmation as GMD of Dangote Sugar, Engineer. Abdullahi A. Sule contested elections and became the Governor of Nasarawa State on May 29th 2019.
Given his corporate worldview, Engr Abdullahi A. Sule came into office as Governor of Nasarawa State with a living economic blueprint called NEDS: Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy- the very first of its kind in the 25-year-old history of Nasarawa State, which articulated with resounding & unambiguous clarity, the vision of Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule to galvanize and sustain accelerated growth of the Nasarawa economy and translate this to clear improvement in the lives of the citizens
In the last three years, Engr. A. A. Sule has reiterated that his quest to govern Nasarawa State is borne out of the sheer desire to serve his people and pull his state from the backwaters of unexplored potentials to the front burner of global business praxis and international best practice, so as to institutionalize values such as accountability, fear of God, inclusion and human capital development as well as the provision of adequate security, empowerment, welfare and critical infrastructure for A GREATER NASARAWA STATE.
Engr Abdullahi A. Sule is a Co-recipient of THE prestigious ZIK PRIZE IN LEADERSHIP conferred on him by the Public Policy and Research Institute in Lagos and he also received THE SARDAUNA EXEMPLARY LEADERSHIP AWARD along with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo SAN. GCON.
Engr Abdullahi A. Sule is today the inspiration behind the economic school of thought called BARAYANOMICS, which represents the vision of Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule to improve the economy of Nasarawa State on the basis of wealth creation and the exploitation of economic opportunities through private capital investment and partnership for a sustainable and prosperous economy.
As Governor, Engr Abdullahi A. Sule came prepared with an economic blueprint called NEDS: NASARAWA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY which he has been using to navigate the policies and programs of his administration.
The NEDS: Nasarawa Economic Strategy focuses on five game changers namely, employment and wealth creation, accelerated industrialization, infrastructural development, human capital development and urban renewal and sustainable development, with a stated target to move Nasarawa State to be among THE TOP THREE MOST COMPETITIVE STATES by 2023!
