Nasarawa State Governor Engineer Abdullahi Sule has said that he will keep working until May 28, 2023 as he was elected to work for the people whose mandate he hold in trust.
He stated this during an inspection visit to ongoing work on the street that demarcates the Muslim and Christian grave yards off Al-makura street, Lafia, where he recently expressed satisfaction with the progress of each work done so far.
“…we were elected to work, we were not elected to spend sometimes for politics and sometimes for work. In fact, the whole four years that we were elected is for work and we have not even spent three years…”. The Governor explained.
Engineer Sule pointed out that, if he stops working now to concentrate on politics; he is not being fair to the people. He noted further that the road means a lot to him as he recalled that he once visited the area and observed with concern how deplorable it was as well as the devastating effects of storm during the raining season.
He stressed that, it was at that moment he made a commitment and a promise that; once he was able to accumulate certain amount of money from a particular source, he would construct the road so as to reduce the impact of erosion and building-collapse incidents in the area.
The Governor equally expressed confidence in the ability of the contractor (TRAICTA) to deliver quality work as he specifically noted that the company’s director understands Lafia very well.
“…Yes, there is politics and there is work for us to do which is very important, I was elected to work – I have to continue working till May 28, 2023, that is the way it should be…” He emphasized.
Engineer Sule equally revealed that the contractor (TRAICTA) managing director has promised to make the street motorable in ten days.
