His Excellency, Engr Abdullahi A. Sule has inaugurated a committee for the creation of additional districts and villages in the State. The committee is also saddled with the responsibility to resolve certain lingering chieftaincy and boundary disputes in parts of the State.
The committee was inaugurated at the Government House Lafia on Friday, 17th June, 2022. Engr Abdullahi A Sule explained that there had been numerous requests from various communities for the creation of additional districts and villages.
He also charged and encouraged the committee to address reported conflicts emanating from existing chiefdoms, districts and villages around the State. Engr Abdullahi A Sule also added that the setting up of the committee was part of the efforts being put in place by both the traditional rulers as well as the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.
“These requests are coming as a result of boundary misunderstanding and sometimes disputes in some communities within the state, and with all the negative consequences that is accompanied.”
The committee which is chaired by a former Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Chief Philip Dada, has eight weeks to submit its reports.
Some other members of the committee include, a former Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Mr. Philip Anjide, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana, Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Aliyu Ubandoma Muhammad, among others.
