His Excellency, Engr Abdullahi A. Sule has on Monday 18th July, 2022 broke another political record where the immediate past Local Government Chairmen of Nasarawa State led by Honourable Abubakar Usman of Wamba Local government led a delegation of his colleagues from 12 other local government areas to endorse the governor for reelection during the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
As a way to show their eternal gratitude and appreciation to Engr Sule for being among the very first governors, to grant local government their FULL Financial Autonomy, the former LG chairmen have come out of retirement and political quietness to declare their resounding support for the re-election of Engr. A.A Sule as Governor in 2023.
It would be recalled that on assumption of office in 2019, His Excellency, Engr. A.A Sule stopped meddling and interfering with local government finances, being one of the 1st governors to do so in Nigeria.
Records have also clearly shown that Engr. A.A. Sule has treated LGAs with full respect and quickly supported them to augment paying of gratuity and pension which was initially suffering neglect and setback, in the last 3 years of his administration.
It would also be recalled that, prior to his ascendancy as Governor of Nasarawa State, pensioners in the State were paid in percentages, while local government workers were paid salaries after 4-5 months. Additionally, there was also no payment of gratuity or salary increase on the basis of promotions in the state, until A.A. Sule brought compassion and prudent financial management to settle arrears on pension and also implement the N30, 000 new minimum wage.
The former local government Chairmen noted that all the suffering and isolation of local government areas has since become history in Nasarawa State, as Engr Abdullahi A. Sule has changed that narrative, and brought even development from Farin Ruwa to Karu to Doma; From Toto to Tunga and also by making sure the welfare of Nasarawa State civil servants has improved for the better.
